Tøru Harada 原田とおる(透)

Tøru Harada, born in 1980 in Miyazaki Prefecture, Kyushu, graduated from Kyushu Polytechnic University, majoring in sculpture. He has received systematic training in painting, sculpture, landscape design and many other mediums. Under the influence of his artist mother, he became interested in art at an early age, drawing and making clay. As a child, Harada moved to Australia work with his father for an architecture work. The scenes, TV programs, animations and the local Australian people in the 1980s have left a huge impact on him, and these elements have always influenced his works.

 

Tøru Harada’s works span a wide range from plane to solid sculpture design. His creative style is free and bold, and he is good at finding creative medium and inspiration from daily life on the street. His works are known for its structural simplicity and distinctive style utilizing bold lines. The unique conceptual ideas and techniques of the mosaic painting style reflect the creator's rich background in art. Tøru Harada uses the simplest design, bold lines elements along with the usage of inherent characteristics of the display space to bring the audience a brand-new sensory impression.
