Liu Lu 劉璐

Liu Lu (b. 1991, Zhejiang, China)
Currently works and lives in Hangzhou, China

Liu Lu graduated from the Oil Painting Department of The China Academy of Art with a Master's degree in 2017. Liu's painting is based on a hazy and psychedelic visual experience of the current era, revolving around the overlapping of lights and shadows between the virtual and the reality. She explored the connection between images made in different time and space to create new illusions with the use of multiple exposures. She infuses the false and distorted yet delicate texture of "Gaussian blur" in filters into the paintings. She employs abstract shapes, symbols and lines to present those virtual yet daily existences.

Liu’s works have been widely showcased at various significant exhibitions in mainland China, which reflect her unique artistic style and creative concepts. Her solo exhibition includes “Eyes of The Night” which was held at AMNUA in Nanjing in 2023. Group exhibitions include “New West Lake” at MoCA Shanghai in 2021, “Diversity of Forms” at Sailing Space in Shanghai in 2023 and “Mercurial Fountain” at the Beijing Santo Hall in 2023 among others.
