Born in 1979 in Shanxi, China, Zhang Xuerui graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2004 and now lives and works in Beijing, China.
Zhang Xuerui is one of the most active Chinese artists of our time, and her work has been widely recognized. Her recent paintings emphasize the search for the essence of color and space, while her installation series deeply expresses human emotions. Sherry Zhang's fabric readymade creations and her abstract paintings are in harmony with each other, and together they constitute her artistic practice. She has developed a strong style of her own in her pursuit of art.

In 2015, Zhang Xuerui participated in the artist residency program "Kulturkontaka Austria" in Vienna, Austria, and her works have been collected by the White Rabbit Gallery of Art and the Cruthers Art Foundation, among others.
