Fu jiani's paintings are closely related to her own life experience. She grew up in a family of strong Buddhist influences, where she used to listen to the Buddhist prayers played in chanting machines since childhood. She liked to watch various flowers and plants flourish and decay in her yard, a memory that continuously emerged on her canvases when she studies painting in Italy and the UK. In her paintings, one can experience the changing colours like flowers blooming, as well as the formation, existence, destruction and emptiness revealed by the energy flow of life. One can also feel the gathering and scattering, beginning and end of a small chiliocosm destructed by the brushstrokes of flowers and leaves. Her recent works has involved the expression of cell division and reproduction, and the awareness of sickness and life, especially in the small-sized paintings created during the pandemic period in a Zen master’s studio in her hometown Luoyang where she aims to draw her own ideal world of enlightenment.
Fu jiani's selected exhibitions in recent years include Critical Configuration, group show(Leo Gallery, Shanghai, China,2020), Imprimitura ,“Spatial grammar” research project series 1(LangKong Art Museum,Beijing,China,2019),Becoming, group show(Migrant Bird Space, Beijing, China,2019),Negotiating space-I never thought you were like that, The 3 CAFAM Biennial, (CAFAM Art Museum, Beijing, China,2016),Slade final degree show 2015(Slade School of Fine Art, London, UK,2015).
