Inspiration behind Painting
By Wu Yi
"I would usually like to bring my audience something that is real and visible through my painting. Besides, I am pretty sure what I draw is what I am really interested in.
Specifically, I like to inject the concept of Chinese painting, as well as the way of viewing Chinese painting, into my artworks. Although I use western painting materials, it doesn't mean that I draw western-style painting. My painting expresses the unique idea of how nature really looks like, both abstractly and visually, with a style of traditional Chinese aesthetics. That is so-called Learning from nature and drawing through your heart."
